Introducing the Science of Light and Sound into the Art+Design Classroom
An understanding of light and sound from a scientific perspective can give art and design students valuable tools that they can use to produce their work and more adeptly describe it. This case study will highlight ways in which art and design students can be introduced to the science of light and sound in a manner that is approachable and relevant to them. In courses entitled The Science of Light and The Physics of Music, students experience light and sound interactively through classroom demonstrations and hands-on activities in which they produce, manipulate and analyze light and sound.
