The Bureau of Linguistical Reality is a public participatory artwork by interdisciplinary artists Alicia Escott and Heidi Quante focused on creating new language as a way to better understand rapid changes in the world due to climate change and other Anthropocenic events.

The Bureau was established to provide people agency to create new words to directly express what they are feeling and experiencing as the world changes due to the acceleration of climate change. The Bureau uses these new words to facilitate greater conversations about the experiences and emotions these words represent, hoping to facilitate a deeper cultural shift around climate change.

The artists draw upon their collective backgrounds in art, social practice, experiential learning, and science to create interdisciplinary forums that, through the tool of language, connect people who are feeling isolated in their thinking around an Anthropocene-related event to feeling part of the greater collective experience of climate change.
