Dana Cupkova holds a Lucian & Rita Caste Assistant Professorship at the Carnegie Mellon School of Architecture and is a principal of EPIPHYTE Lab, an interdisciplinary design and research collaborative focused on architecture as it relates to resource and energy flows. From 2005-2013 she was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Cornell University. Dana’s work engages the built environment at the intersection of ecology, computationally-driven processes, and systems analysis. Her focus is on the design consequences of data-driven methods that fold information into creative design process. This work has been supported by NYSCA’13 Grant, the AIA NY Center for Architecture Foundation, the Cornell University Faculty Innovation Grant, The Architectural League of NY and was recognized by ACADIA. Dana’s design work has been published internationally in professional venues such as Dwell, The Architectural Review, Green Building & Design, The Cornell Journal of Architecture, Architect’s Newspaper and presented at many academic conferences.
