Michael Sammet earned degrees from University of California, Berkeley, and Stanford University and has taught Sustainable Design for ten years at UC Berkeley Extension, Dominican University, the Academy of Art University, and the California College of the Arts. In his published articles, public lectures, and teachings, Sammet stresses that sustainability is not just about lowering our impact on the planet but also about improving the quality of our lives. For him, sustainable design offers us the chance to reconnect and integrate with living processes in a way that harmonizes human activities with the larger patterns and flows of nature. He currently teaches the Sustainability Studio in the MBA in Design Strategy program at CCA. The program brings a design thinking methodology to business education with an emphasis on sustainability. Michael lives in the mountains of Santa Cruz with his wife and dog and enjoys yoga, skiing, and hiking.
